The School of Art is committed to ensuring a welcoming and inclusive climate aimed at fostering collaboration, community and open dialogue for all students. Students have incredible opportunities to access state-of-the-art facilties, receive financial assistance through scholarships and tuition waivers, and an education with faculty artists, designers, and scholars.

Undergraduate Admissions

All incoming undergraduate students apply through general admission to the BA program. After completing intensive Freshman Foundations courses their freshman year, students are encouraged to apply to the BFA program.

Undergraduate Scholarships + Visits

The School of Art encourages all undergraduate students to learn about the incredible scholarship opportunities and visit the University of Arkansas and School of Art to see the facilities and resources available to all students.

  • Incoming student scholarship applications will open soon. The deadline to apply is February 1.

Students can find information and be directed on where to apply for the scholarships on theFinancial Aid and Scholarshipsarea of the art website.

Students are encouraged to apply for all other University of Arkansas Scholarships by November 15, and can find information on applying here: UA Scholarships.

Graduate Admissions

The School of Art offers graduate programs in Art Education, Graphic Design, and Studio Art, and is launching the new Master of Arts in Art History program. All programs offer graduate students financial support throughout their years of study, access to world-class resources and facilities, and internationally and nationally renowned faculty.

The School of Art application is free and submitted through Slideroom, a web-based portfolio and document submission system. Applications open in the fall and the deadline is January 15th at midnight, CST.

NOTE: It is not necessary to submit an application to the Graduate School until you have first been admitted to the School of Art. Applicants who have been granted admission by the School of Art will be asked to submit a secondary application to the Graduate School before they can be fully admitted to the university (a link to the application will be provided with the School of Art’s offer letter). The Master of Arts degree program in Art Education is an accredited, two-year residency program. As a research-oriented program, it emphasizes theoretical studies and research inquiries in art education and fosters students’ personal development as art educators, researchers, and critical, reflexive, and imaginative thinkers.

Please note that the GRE is not required for applicants to the Master of Arts program in Art Education at the School of Art at the University of Arkansas.

The School of Art welcome the first cohort for the Master of Arts in Art History degree in the Fall of 2023. The Art History M.A. degree is an accredited two-year residency program in partnership with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and specializing in the arts of the Americas.

The School of Art offers a Master of Design in Communication Design degree. Launched in fall 2022, this degree program focuses on graphic and communication design, the first of its kind in the state of Arkansas.

The Studio Art Master of Fine Artsis an accredited, three-year, 60 credit-hour, in-residence studio program that combines contemporary critical engagement with technical proficiency.

Students enter the program through one of 6 media areas (ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking or sculpture) and work closely with faculty and graduate students from those areas while in the program.

The GRE isnotrequired for applicants to the MFA program in the School of Art at the University of Arkansas.
