James Van Der Beek Moved His Family Of Six To Texas (2024)

That was in October of 2020

Now in February of 2021, he is no heat and no power

He looks like shit.

by Anonymousreply 1February 19, 2021 2:48 AM

Look at Ms. Drama Queen...

by Anonymousreply 2February 19, 2021 2:48 AM

Then he went home and impregnated his wife.

by Anonymousreply 3February 19, 2021 2:51 AM

He should cut down some utility poles, it isn't like Texas is using them.

by Anonymousreply 4February 19, 2021 3:16 AM

Dawson's Creek had plenty of wood.

by Anonymousreply 5February 19, 2021 3:24 AM

Which child are they planning on eating first?

by Anonymousreply 6February 19, 2021 3:26 AM

Why the fuck did he have six kids? He doesn't have Matt Damon $$$ to support all of that.

by Anonymousreply 7February 19, 2021 3:46 AM

5 kids, 5 miscarriages. So far.

by Anonymousreply 8February 19, 2021 3:48 AM

He should’ve moved back to Connecticut, at least they have power in the winter.

by Anonymousreply 9February 19, 2021 3:50 AM

They're addicted to babies

by Anonymousreply 10February 19, 2021 3:51 AM

Seriously where is he cutting that tree from? The local park?

by Anonymousreply 11February 19, 2021 3:53 AM

Hahaha. He’s living the drama. With a motherfucking chainsaw.

I wonder if those doomsday preppers out there are prepared for this.

by Anonymousreply 12February 19, 2021 3:56 AM

Dawson’s Frozen Creek 🧊

by Anonymousreply 13February 19, 2021 3:59 AM

He annoys me.

by Anonymousreply 14February 19, 2021 4:02 AM

WTF did he expect moving to a Republican shithole?

by Anonymousreply 15February 19, 2021 4:03 AM

Is he a Repuglicunt? Why else would anyone move to Texas?

by Anonymousreply 16February 19, 2021 4:03 AM

It's a helluva lot cheaper to live in Texas instead of LA when you've got six kids and a lazy ass wife who doesn't work.

by Anonymousreply 17February 19, 2021 4:05 AM

He was tired of all the work he was getting in Hollywood so he decided to leave

by Anonymousreply 18February 19, 2021 4:06 AM

They bought a house in the middle of nowhere with a lot of land

by Anonymousreply 19February 19, 2021 4:09 AM

R17 She has a job, it’s called birthin’ babies!

by Anonymousreply 20February 19, 2021 4:10 AM

[quote] He doesn't have Matt Damon $$$ to support all of that.

And Damon's expenses are lower because his wife only eats carrots.

by Anonymousreply 21February 19, 2021 4:11 AM

Katie, Joshua and (white) Michelle Williams are laughing their asses off right now.

by Anonymousreply 22February 19, 2021 4:12 AM

This just in James Van Der Beek has left his family and moved in with the bitch in apartment 23.

by Anonymousreply 23February 19, 2021 4:14 AM

Yes, his whole family (and hers) are Republicans.

He also left California because he didn’t wanna raise his kids in that environment and disagrees with a lot of what’s happening

by Anonymousreply 24February 19, 2021 4:14 AM

He should really be building snowcastles in the snow.

by Anonymousreply 25February 19, 2021 4:16 AM

Whew! So MANLY!

*fans self*

by Anonymousreply 26February 19, 2021 4:17 AM

I'm watching a temperature doppler and it shows temps sinking into the teens in TX tonight.

by Anonymousreply 27February 19, 2021 4:29 AM

Hope he gathers kindling quickly and gets heating back for his family; I'm sure he doesn't wanna wait... for their lives to be over; he'd want to know right now, what will it be?

by Anonymousreply 28February 19, 2021 4:36 AM

In California it could have been fires or mudslides or earthquakes.

by Anonymousreply 29February 19, 2021 4:41 AM

If he's a republican, I hope he slowly freezes to death.

by Anonymousreply 30February 19, 2021 4:45 AM

So, now we know why they had all these children, to increase the level of body heat in just such an occasion.

by Anonymousreply 31February 19, 2021 4:52 AM

Is his wife taking this photo?

I don't see how a man has that many kids without being a conservative jackass.

by Anonymousreply 32February 19, 2021 5:11 AM

by Anonymousreply 36February 19, 2021 10:01 AM

I guess you have to do what you have to do but if he’s out there cutting dead wood then he’s not getting much heat out of it.

by Anonymousreply 37February 19, 2021 10:17 AM

Serves him right for being straight.

by Anonymousreply 38February 19, 2021 10:31 AM

Do Texans give people shit for not being real Texans?

by Anonymousreply 39February 19, 2021 11:59 AM

He should've bought a generator.

by Anonymousreply 40February 19, 2021 12:52 PM

R39 yes. NY, TX, Boston Natives are all very Prideful. They will accept you but you are not THEM in their eyes.

by Anonymousreply 41February 19, 2021 12:56 PM

[quote]He should've bought a generator.

Indeed; the picture suggests he lives in a rural area, further demonstrating how poorly prepared he is.

This kind of makes me laugh in that his Instagram pictures indicate that he fancies himself some outdoor He-Man when in fact he looks like unprepared asshole, woefully over his head. I hope FEMA shows up soon or they will be eating one of the kids

by Anonymousreply 42February 19, 2021 12:56 PM

Maybe he just wants to get out of the house and see what action is happening in the brush?

by Anonymousreply 43February 19, 2021 1:02 PM

I loved him on season 1 of POSE.

Season 1 was so good. 2 was messy and lacked the charm of the first season.

by Anonymousreply 44February 19, 2021 1:12 PM

[quote] I hope FEMA shows up soon or they will be eating one of the kids.

His fivehead has enough skin to tent his family or to serve as a meal.

by Anonymousreply 45February 19, 2021 2:24 PM

He seems like he wrecklessly endangered his family by not providing a reliable alternative energy source like a generator. He has the financial resources.

by Anonymousreply 46February 19, 2021 2:58 PM

R16 To get away from the earthquakes, floods, fires, the homeless wandering the streets and to avoid some of the most stringent Covid policies in what ironically has become the epicenter of Covid in the nation. Companies have been relocating to Arizona and Texas for years to avoid the highest taxes in the country. This has been going on for years.

by Anonymousreply 47February 19, 2021 4:13 PM

^ fleeing California.

by Anonymousreply 48February 19, 2021 4:20 PM

James Fled... California's high taxes.

by Anonymousreply 49February 19, 2021 4:28 PM

Yeah, wood needs to be seasoned before burning. He has a backpack full of wet wood. Also, a fireplace is not going to heat much more than a few feet in front of it. Somehow I doubt he has a wood burning stove or furnace.

Modern suburban/urban conservatives are full of shit. They've never lived more than a ten minute drive from every modern convenience, but talk as though you could drop them off in the woods with a pocket knife and some string and they'd be able to survive for months.

At least most rural conservatives have actual survival skills. That song "A Country Boy Will Survive" rings true when shit hits the fan.

by Anonymousreply 50February 19, 2021 6:26 PM

[quote] [R39] yes. NY, TX,

by Anonymousreply 51February 19, 2021 6:29 PM

His pants are about to fall off.

This "I have to go cut wood to keep my woman and kids warm because I'm the man" vibe is lessened by his narcissistic need to Instagram the moment.

Nice manly camo gloves. Yes James, you are masculine! But we already knew that from the way you keep your wife in a constant state of reproduction.

by Anonymousreply 52February 19, 2021 6:31 PM

R50, good catch. I was going to point out the wood was wet, too.

I wonder if he has ever even used a chainsaw before.

by Anonymousreply 53February 19, 2021 6:36 PM

Burning wet wood isn't good.

by Anonymousreply 54February 19, 2021 6:52 PM

There’s an actual online movement of conservatives to move from California to TX. They want to keep TX red and not pay taxes. It’s been going on for a while. People like this guy are Johnny Come Latelies.

by Anonymousreply 59February 21, 2021 11:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 60February 21, 2021 11:21 PM

He's not a Trumptard. He lives in Democrat-dominated Austin. Nice guy.

by Anonymousreply 61February 21, 2021 11:22 PM

So he's out trying to cut frozen wood with an EGO electric chainsaw? Good luck with that.

by Anonymousreply 62February 21, 2021 11:34 PM

My electricity was off for about a day last week. As it is my kitchen range burns gas and that's how I at least kept my house sweater warm till the power was restored.

But woke politicians are trying to ban natural gas in the home. It's for the children.

He is perpetually horny and loves to fuck, I mean really really loves to fuck, and one of the byproducts of doing that with a woman is that kids pop out later. He must have some really potent jizz.

by Anonymousreply 65February 22, 2021 12:37 AM

If he will let me have some of his wood, I will gladly give him some of my (fire) wood.

by Anonymousreply 66February 22, 2021 1:25 AM

R60 In the OP it indicates he grateful for the utilities working today. Some power has obviously been restored.

by Anonymousreply 67February 22, 2021 1:27 AM

In all fairness, Austin is normally a great place to live. The music scene is very exciting and the city itself is usually rather manageable. The food has improved dramatically in recent years and the huge influx of a young workforce has made the city rather cosmopolitan by Texas standards.

Also, the Grindr guys on tap are first rate.

by Anonymousreply 68February 22, 2021 1:30 AM

Please tell me his children did not inherit his 5head!

by Anonymousreply 69February 22, 2021 1:38 AM

R1, he doesn't look like shit. He looks like a 44-year-old man who's been out in the cold for some time. JvdB has kept his looks very well. He's not a twink anymore, if he ever was, but he's a handsome daddy type. Literally ... times 5! 🤣

R19, CT has power this winter, so far. Let a severe ice storm hit the state, or a hurricane come through next summer, and see how many hundreds of thousands are without power. Everywhere that experiences extreme weather - which is the entire eastern 2/3 of the country - is susceptible to massive power outages. There have been many on the east coast in the last decade or so.

That guy from California who wrote the op-ed about Austin is right. There's not a lot of natural beauty one would find in California. Texas will never match the beauty of Yosemite, the coastal views of Monterrey, the mountains and skiing, or any hiking.

There are some nice parks with trees and trains, and rivers for kayaking. That's it for natural beauty! Texas beaches? Please! The local governments in Texas only comb the beaches about one a year and leave the clean up to nonprofits. They are not pretty and have red seaweed and dead jellyfish.

by Anonymousreply 86March 5, 2021 5:25 PM

*trails not trains^

Although you can take old trains and see some rustic , run down shanties and possible meth houses not far from Austin if you want.

by Anonymousreply 87March 5, 2021 5:27 PM

Among the reasons they left California:

"At the park in Beverly Hills near the house we just moved away from... you were not allowed to fly a KITE," he wrote. "Also not allowed at any park in #BeverlyHills Riding a bicycle, climbing a tree, throwing a ball against a cinder-block wall, learning anything from an instructor, using weights, cones or any type of pad, wearing cleats (even rubber ones), and you couldn’t use the batting cage built next to the baseball field. ... when people ask why we’re moving our kids out of L.A. these are just some of the reasons."

by Anonymousreply 92March 6, 2021 2:18 AM

Are kids really not allowed to ride a bike or climb a tree in LA parks? In NYC kids do whatever the fuck they want

by Anonymousreply 97March 9, 2021 2:39 PM

is James conservative?

by Anonymousreply 98March 9, 2021 2:51 PM

The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

by Anonymousreply 99March 9, 2021 2:54 PM

He lives in Austin which is a liberal paradise in conservative Texas. There's no evidence that JVDB is a conservative. He has a lot of kids and can't be making that much. So Texas being cheaper and having more space too is probably what appeals to him and was a practical move.

by Anonymousreply 100March 9, 2021 2:55 PM

These Hollywood types never stay anywhere forever. Just as soon as living in Texas gets boring and there's no "newness" about it they'll up and move somewhere else. When you have the money to pull up stakes and go wherever you want, whenever you want, and you're easily bored (as most show biz types are), your willingness to be happy with and find a way to make a go of what you have is greatly decreased.

by Anonymousreply 101March 9, 2021 3:03 PM

If that's true for JVDB then that would be incredibly selfish. His kids need stability and security because they're still young. The kids need to make friends their own age and feel attachment to their community. But he and his wife do seem self-absorbed. Look at all the kids they had and how they have to support them on their incomes. It's not like either of them are raking in dough.

by Anonymousreply 102March 9, 2021 3:07 PM

Is his wife from Texas? I assumed that was why they chose to move there. She looks the sort. Sort of like that red headed Oklahoma harridan Ree Drummond.

by Anonymousreply 103March 9, 2021 5:58 PM

Texas got along without an electric grid for years.

by Anonymousreply 104March 9, 2021 5:59 PM

R97, I'm pretty sure kids aren't allowed to climb trees in any public park anywhere in America for safety and liability reasons. That kids in NYC don't follow the rules is no surprise and is probably true in parts of LA - just not the parts JVDB is likely to take his kids. Didn't he mention Beverly Hills (which is a separate city anyway and thus can have whatever rules it wants in its parks)?

by Anonymousreply 105March 11, 2021 11:49 PM

How does someone go back into the closet like that? Do any of the children have his forehead?

I play tennis with an older attorney who has a trust fund kid living "off the grid" in northern Minnesota. The guy actually does know a lot about how to survive and do a lot for himself, like Van Der Beek says he's thinking of survival kids. But it still seems stunt-y when it's underwritten with family money and he always has the option to return to the amenities of the "real" world. Vanderbeek has earned his own money, but still. He doesn't HAVE to learn survival skills.
